Cherish AI runs at the edge, on the device itself, classifying what the radar returns into body position, movement, falls, heart rate and respiration. The discrimination problem is the interesting part of the engineering. A person lowering themselves to the floor deliberately and a person falling produce similar endpoints, and the company states its models separate them by reading body position through the descent. It also claims to catch the harder case, a fall where someone grabbed a table on the way down, which an accelerometer in a wearable would miss because the deceleration never happens. The most aggressive sensing claim is that heart rate and respiration can be read from 40 feet away through two walls with nothing worn, described by the chief executive as demonstrated in the company's own laboratory rather than published. The privacy argument is the commercial argument. Radar produces no image, so nothing resembling video of a person in a bedroom or bathroom ever exists, and edge inference means classification happens on the device.
