Elation Health vs Freed

Last VerifiedAugust 4, 2026
Verdict

For an independent primary care practice this is the sharpest version of the bundled against standalone question. Elation includes its AI at no additional cost with the platform subscription and publishes its business associate agreement in full at a public address, which is rarer than it should be, and because it is the record system the note lands in the chart with orders and referrals drafted alongside. Freed costs 39 to 119 dollars a month, publishes everything, includes an agreement on every tier and works with whatever platform you already run. If you are considering a record system change anyway, Elation removes a line item rather than adding one. If you are not, the documentation benefit is available without a migration, and a migration is a far larger project than a scribe subscription.

Select Elation Health if
  • The AI is included at no additional cost with the platform subscription, which is the entire economic argument against paying a separate per clinician documentation fee.
  • The business associate agreement is published in full at a public address, which almost nothing in this index does, so the terms are readable before a sales process.
  • Note Assist writes into the clinician's own templates inside the chart, and Actions drafts orders and referrals directly, because the vendor is the record system.
Select Freed if
  • Published self serve pricing from a low monthly rate with a trial that takes no credit card, so the cost is knowable and reversible.
  • A business associate agreement is included by default on every tier, making even the cheapest plan a viable production configuration.
  • It works with whatever record system you already run, so no platform migration is required to get the documentation benefit.

Disclosure

The comparison is only real for a practice willing to consider a record system change, since one product is bundled into a platform and the other sits on top of any platform. Compare total cost of ownership rather than the documentation line. Freed states that its models are trained only on de identified notes, which means customer content does train the model after de identification and is a different commitment from not training on customer data at all.

Elation publishes no retention period for ambient audio or transcripts and no position on whether customer data trains its models, and no attestation published by the company was located. Neither publishes an accuracy figure.
