CareCloud stratusAI

CareCloud stratusAI is the AI phone product of CareCloud, a New Jersey healthcare IT company that sells EHR, practice management and revenue cycle software and services to medical practices and, since buying Medsphere in 2025, to hospitals. Its lead product, stratusAI Desk Agent, is an AI receptionist that answers patient calls around the clock inside CareCloud's own EHR and practice management system. It handles scheduling and changes, insurance eligibility and demographic capture, prescription refill routing, lab result inquiries, referral requests and reminders, and passes calls to staff when a person's judgment is needed. The companion product, stratusAI Voice Audit, monitors patient calls, scores their quality and reports on call volumes, abandonment and patient sentiment.

The agent reached full commercial release in December 2025 and is offered first to CareCloud's existing clients. CareCloud says it now resolves about 75 percent of inbound calls without staff, and its first named customer, The Lung Center in Florence, Alabama, reported the agent taking 1,871 of 3,608 inbound calls in its first month.

Clinical documentation sits in a separate CareCloud suite, cirrusAI, which records visits and writes notes into the CareCloud EHR. No price is listed for either. CareCloud names a SOC 2 Type 2 examination for its platform, and much of its operations team works from offices in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Capability Axes

An AI Health Index grade measures what a buyer can verify from public sources on the date shown. It is not a rating of how good the product is. A vendor can build an excellent system and grade low on an axis because it publishes nothing an outsider can check. How grades read

AI Capability
AA on AI CentralityThe artificial intelligence is the product. Remove the model and there is nothing left to sell.
Vendor Published

The voice agent is the product. stratusAI Desk Agent carries the phone conversation with the patient, works out the request and completes it in CareCloud's practice management and EHR system: booking and changing appointments, verifying insurance eligibility, capturing demographics, routing refill requests, answering lab result and referral inquiries and placing reminder calls. CareCloud describes it as built on large language models with real time reasoning, developed in the AI Center of Excellence it opened in April 2025.

Voice Audit, the companion product, applies the same kind of analysis to recorded calls, scoring quality and reading patient intent and sentiment. Without the models there is nothing left in either product, which is why CareCloud presents stratusAI as its flagship AI line rather than a feature of the EHR.

DD on Autonomy and Oversight ModelNo oversight structure is published. An absolute claim that the system does not err grades here too, because a buyer who believes it will not build the review step that would catch a failure.
Vendor Published

CareCloud promises that the agent delivers consistent, error free service and accurate handling of every patient interaction. That is an absolute claim for an agent CareCloud says resolves about 75 percent of inbound calls with no staff involved. On those calls no person stands between what the agent says or books and the patient, so the promise invites a practice to skip the checks that would catch a mistake.

The oversight that exists is described only in outline. Management says the agent escalates to live staff when human judgment is required, and Voice Audit lets a practice review and score calls after the fact. No escalation criteria, scope limits on medication or lab result questions, or correction path for a wrong booking or message are set out.

CC on Model and Technology TransparencyThe architecture is described in general terms with nothing identified. Proprietary is asserted rather than explained.
Vendor Published

Advanced large language models with real time reasoning is as far as the description goes. No model family, speech recognition engine, voice synthesis provider, version or update practice is named for stratusAI, and nothing explains how the agent decides it has resolved a call or when it should escalate.

CareCloud is more specific elsewhere in its portfolio: cirrusAI Guide, its clinical decision support tool, is described as running on Google's Vertex AI generative models. That disclosure belongs to the documentation suite and does not tell a buyer what produces the stratusAI agent's answers on the phone.

CC on Model Supply Chain DisclosureThe architecture is described and no model provider is named. Naming a hosting provider alone does not lift a record out of this band. Record the host in the note, because it matters for residency and breach scope, and grade on the model layer, which is the question this axis is named for.
Vendor Published

The agent is described as built on large language models, and no model, speech or telephony provider is named. CareCloud calls stratusAI proprietary and developed in house, which describes the application layer and leaves the models underneath unidentified.

The one supplier CareCloud names in its AI portfolio is Google, whose Vertex AI powers cirrusAI Guide in the documentation suite. No subprocessor list, hosting provider or data terms with model providers are given for stratusAI, so a practice cannot see which outside companies receive its patients' calls or whether they may retain or train on them.

CC on Clinical and Operational EvidenceNamed customers, or vendor reported percentages with no method, denominator or reference standard. Scale of use is recorded here and is not treated as evidence of benefit.
Vendor Published

One named practice and company wide percentages make up the record so far. The Lung Center, a pulmonary and sleep practice in Florence, Alabama, went live in December 2025, and its physician owner reported on a CareCloud earnings call that the agent took 1,871 of 3,608 inbound calls in its first month; management later put the share of scheduling related calls it handles there at nearly 80 percent.

Across clients, CareCloud's first quarter 2026 results say the agent resolves about 75 percent of inbound calls autonomously. By the August 2026 earnings call, management described stratusAI revenue as still early and said it was putting implementation quality ahead of deployment counts. The figures are counts of calls the agent kept, not measures of how many it handled correctly, and no method, error rate, patient satisfaction figure or comparison with staffed phone lines accompanies them.

CC on AI Safety and PHI StewardshipGeneral assurances of privacy and security that do not answer the questions artificial intelligence raises: what is retained, what reaches a model, and what happens to it there.
Vendor Published

Patient calls are recorded, transcribed and analyzed by both stratusAI products, and nothing says how long recordings and transcripts are kept, whether they are used to improve the models, or how they are de identified. Voice Audit's purpose is to mine calls for intent, sentiment and unmet needs, so call content is retained at least long enough to analyze.

General assurances come from the wider company: CareCloud describes HIPAA compliance and a SOC 2 Type 2 examination of its healthcare IT systems. Nothing addresses safety engineering for the agent, such as guardrails on what it may say about medications or lab results, how a harmful answer would be caught, or how a safety event is handled.

Regulatory and Compliance
CC on HIPAA and BAA PostureA status is stated but not supported: compliance is claimed, or business associate status stated, without the underlying document, including where the only privacy notice published covers the website rather than the service that handles patients. The mirror case grades here as well: a substantive privacy document that reaches the service, with no statement of business associate status anywhere and no scope position taken. One of the two elements the band above asks for is present, which is a grade below it and not a grade at the floor.
Vendor Published

HIPAA compliance is claimed and nothing behind it is set out for the agent. CareCloud promises built in security and full HIPAA compliance for its cirrusAI suite, and its filings describe it handling patient data for thousands of providers, which makes it a business associate of those practices in the ordinary course.

CareCloud's privacy notice reaches only website visitors and the companies that help ship orders or provide customer service. No business associate agreement, its terms or the parties it binds is described for stratusAI, including the language model providers that hear patient calls and the offshore teams that support CareCloud clients.

BB on Security Certifications and Trust CenterA recognized certification is named in the vendor own material without the artifact, or with a scope or renewal question the buyer has to raise. A recognized certification here is an audit of how the vendor operates security, such as SOC 2, HITRUST or ISO/IEC 27001. A certification has a scope and a clock, and both are part of this grade. A certification the vendor attaches to its data center, hosting facility or cloud provider, rather than presenting as its own, is the host's and does not count here.
Vendor Published

SOC 2 Type 2 is named for CareCloud's platform without a report a buyer can open. CareCloud says it completed the examination for a second consecutive year with a clean report and no exceptions, performed by an independent CPA firm over its healthcare IT systems and covering security, availability, processing integrity and confidentiality.

No examination period is dated, and a buyer has no trust center, security overview or request route to reach the report. Whether stratusAI, launched in December 2025, sits inside the scope of the most recent examination is not stated, and no HITRUST or ISO 27001 certification is claimed.

CC on FDA and Regulatory StatusNo device claim is made and the product is scoped accordingly. Most administrative and operational products sit here and are not penalized for it, because this axis grades the appropriateness of the positioning rather than possession of a clearance.
Vendor Published

stratusAI is sold as front desk automation, with no device claim. CareCloud also says the agent automates medication questions as well as scheduling and follow ups, and management lists lab result inquiries among its tasks, which brings the agent close to telling patients something clinical.

No intended purpose statement or regulatory position says what the agent may answer about a medication or a result and what it must hand to staff. On the descriptions so far, refill requests are routed rather than decided, and nothing markets the agent as giving medical advice, so the administrative positioning holds with that boundary left undefined.

DD on AI Governance and Bias DisclosureNothing published on how model behavior is governed or tested. Multilingual operation with no subgroup performance sits here when the vendor markets recognition quality as a strength, because a caller the system failed to understand leaves no complaint and no record.
Vendor Published

Nothing describes how the agent's behavior is tested or governed. CareCloud's AI Center of Excellence is presented as the engine behind its AI products, not as a governance framework, and no responsible AI policy, evaluation method or review process is attached to stratusAI.

The gap is sharper because the agent is sold on language reach: trade coverage of the earnings call describes it working in more than 30 languages, and The Lung Center gave its agent a Southern accent. No recognition or completion results are given by language, accent, age or hearing ability, so a practice cannot tell which callers the agent fails, and a caller who is misunderstood and hangs up leaves no complaint behind.

CC on AI Liability and RecourseMechanisms exist that let someone challenge an output, such as audit trails, source traceability or review before commit, with nothing standing behind the output and no route for the harmed party.
Vendor Published

Voice Audit gives a practice a way to review what the agent said, and nothing commits CareCloud to stand behind it. Calls can be monitored, scored and searched for trends in abandonment, service levels and sentiment, which lets a practice find a bad call after the fact.

No warranty, service credit, error rate or remediation commitment is attached to the agent's bookings, messages or answers, and no terms of service for stratusAI are posted. A patient given wrong information has the practice to turn to, and the practice has whatever its CareCloud contract says, which is not open to read.

Integration and Deployment
BB on EHR and Interoperability DepthNamed systems with read access or one directional writing, or standards support with named deployments behind it.
Vendor Published

The agent reads and writes inside CareCloud's own EHR and practice management system, the integration CareCloud describes as what sets it apart. On a call it knows who the patient is, sees the schedule and the clinical record, books or changes the appointment and updates the chart, and The Lung Center runs it that way in production.

Outside CareCloud's platform the picture is thinner. The product page says the agent integrates with the practice's EHR and practice systems without naming any other record system, and the launch announcement offered it to CareCloud customers. Practices on the Medsphere hospital systems CareCloud acquired are a natural next target, with no live connection described yet.

CC on Deployment Model and Data ResidencyA single hosted option with location implied rather than committed.
Vendor Published

stratusAI is a hosted service on CareCloud's cloud platform, with no stated hosting provider, data location or tenancy model. Calls arrive on the practice's lines, are handled by the agent and are written into the CareCloud system, and recordings feed Voice Audit's dashboards.

CareCloud's annual report raises a residency point of its own: much of its workforce sits in offices in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, about 98 percent of offshore staff in Pakistan, and the business model depends on them. Whether those teams can reach stratusAI call recordings and patient records, and where the language model processing happens, is not stated.

Commercial
CC on Commercial TransparencyNo price is published and the posture is discoverable: a buyer can establish how the product is sold and what drives the cost before contacting the vendor. Most of the index sits here.
Vendor Published

No price, tier or unit of charge is listed for stratusAI Desk Agent or Voice Audit, and buying starts with a demo request. How it is sold is still clear before contact: the agent launched for CareCloud's existing EHR and practice management clients, and management describes cross selling it to that installed base alongside revenue cycle services, with a separate track for selling it as a standalone AI solution.

The pitch frames the value as front desk labor replaced, with unlimited call volume around the clock, and CareCloud has sized the market for the product at $4 billion a year in the United States. Whether it is priced per call, per minute, per provider or as a platform add on is not stated.

BB on Setting and Specialty CoverageCoverage is named with validation behind part of it.
Vendor Published

Outpatient practices on CareCloud's own platform are the stated setting, with hospitals named as a second market and one named deployment behind the first. CareCloud launched the agent for medical practices and hospitals, and management highlights multi site practices and health systems facing front desk staffing pressure, a market that widened when CareCloud bought Medsphere and its hospital systems in 2025.

The Lung Center, a pulmonary and sleep medicine practice, is the one named site, live since December 2025. No other specialty, practice size or hospital deployment is named, and coverage for practices on EHRs other than CareCloud's rests on a general claim that the agent integrates with the practice's systems.
