Doximity Scribe vs Heidi Health

Last VerifiedAugust 4, 2026
Verdict

Both offer a free product to individual clinicians and only one of them is free in the way that matters. Doximity covers every user under a business associate agreement regardless of price, so a United States clinician can use it on real patients from the first note. Heidi's free tier gives unlimited transcription but its organisation wide agreement and its push to chart integration both sit behind the Practice tier, which means the free plan is an evaluation configuration rather than a production one. Heidi is far the better product if you pay: 110 languages, 200 specialties, region appropriate residency and the broadest certification stack in the category including ISO 42001. Doximity is the better answer if you want zero cost and zero procurement, and you accept that the note stops at the clinician, because no record system integration was located for it at all.

Select Doximity Scribe if
  • Free to every verified United States clinician and student with no tiers, no note limit and no upgrade path required, against a free tier that cannot legally carry protected health information for a United States organisation.
  • All users are covered by a business associate agreement, where the alternative gates its organisation wide agreement behind the Practice tier and above.
  • No audio stored or retained, recordings processed in real time and discarded once the note is generated, with the encounter processor named. That is the clearest data commitment either side makes at the free end of this market.
Select Heidi Health if
  • Coverage nothing else here approaches: 110 languages across 190 countries and more than 200 specialties, with region appropriate data residency operated per market rather than promised.
  • The broadest independently examined certification stack in the category, ISO 42001 for AI management, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO 9001 and a SOC 2 Type II scoped to all five trust services criteria including privacy.
  • It reaches the chart. Push to chart integration with systems including Epic and Oracle Health exists on the Practice and Enterprise tiers, where the alternative has no located record system integration at all.

Disclosure

Heidi's free tier gives unlimited transcription but its organisation wide business associate agreement and push to chart are gated to the Practice tier and above, so the free plan is not a compliant production configuration for a United States organisation handling protected health information. Doximity's free product carries an agreement for all users but no located record system integration, no described review gate and no acceptance or edit burden figure.

Neither vendor publishes an accuracy or error rate, and neither publishes an accent or dialect performance analysis. Third party review of Heidi reports that the scribe does not adaptively learn a clinician's style and that multi problem visits document less reliably than single problem encounters.
