SimX
SimX provides multiplayer VR simulation for healthcare education. Learners share a virtual patient encounter, speak with simulated characters and practice assessments, procedures and team decisions. Institutions can select scenarios from a marketplace or customize cases for their curricula.
AI Assistant automates character dialogue, actions and scenario progression while faculty retain controls to intervene or disable it. Autonomous Simulation supports practice without a facilitator present and returns reports on completed objectives. The broader platform also supports manual moderation and offline training. SimX serves nursing programs, hospitals, emergency services and military organizations. Founded in 2013, it remains an active brand within Madison Industries following the 2024 acquisition.
Capability Axes
An AI Health Index grade measures what a buyer can verify from public sources on the date shown. It is not a rating of how good the product is. A vendor can build an excellent system and grade low on an axis because it publishes nothing an outsider can check. How grades read
AI Assistant automates dialogue and character actions inside the VR platform, while learned services rely on OpenAI. Multiplayer simulation, manually moderated scenarios, physical interaction and the case library provide value beyond that automated module.
Faculty can observe, override or disable AI behavior at any time. The product also makes absolute claims of zero hallucinations and no unsafe responses. Those claims lack qualification for recognition failures or a defined escalation threshold.
OpenAI supplies the learned AI services. The assistant triggers authored dialogue and scenario behavior instead of offering unrestricted generation. Specific model versions, training adaptations and the process for communicating model changes remain unspecified.
OpenAI is the named AI provider and AWS hosts the service. Customer data cannot be used for training. The complete list of model related subprocessors, their retention periods and processing locations remains unspecified.
A 2025 Cureus study found similar critical action completion with SimX and manikins among 14 pediatric cardiac fellows. This prospective crossover evaluation used four scenarios in 2021. It supports the simulation platform, but predates the AI Assistant launched in 2026.
Customer data is excluded from model training, and stored data is encrypted. The privacy policy uses purpose based retention rather than a fixed schedule. Scenario boundaries are described, but a specific response process for harmful AI behavior is unspecified.
Service terms prohibit sharing identifiable patient information and protected student records without prior written approval. A substantive privacy policy covers the applications and institutional users. This establishes a restricted default data scope, without a generally available BAA.
Annual independent penetration testing covers production and corporate environments, including the products. AWS supplies the named SOC and ISO assurances for hosting. A separate SimX certification artifact is not established by those cloud infrastructure claims.
SimX trains healthcare personnel through simulated patients, procedures and team scenarios. Its clinical content is educational, with no device claim for diagnosing or treating real patients. The software agreement also separates training content from actual medical care.
A medical oversight board vets scenarios, and the assistant operates within clinician authored actions and pathways. This establishes a content review process. Comparative model performance across learner accents, demographics or clinical scenario groups remains unspecified.
Users can request correction or deletion of personal information directly from SimX. Faculty also retain control over simulation behavior. Service terms disclaim error free operation and do not promise remediation specifically for incorrect AI responses.
After action reports capture completed objectives and can be emailed to learners. Implementation services help institutions adopt VR, but no named EHR connector, learning platform connector or verified interoperability standard accompanies that reporting workflow.
Hosted services use AWS data centers in the United States. An offline mode also supports restricted networks and disconnected training. Tenant isolation, external AI processing locations and feature parity for AI during offline use remain unspecified.
Program size and selected modules determine the sales quote. The current offer includes a personalized demonstration and guided onboarding, with no numerical subscription price. Historical presentation prices and individual study budgets are not current list prices.
Training covers nursing, physicians, emergency services and military teams. Named users include Cleveland Clinic and Yale New Haven Hospital. Pediatric cardiac simulation has a small prospective evaluation, while validation of the newer AI Assistant is less established.
