Prosper AI vs Waystar

Last VerifiedAugust 4, 2026
Verdict

Two ways to find out what a payer has decided, and the order matters more than the choice. Waystar runs the electronic rails, eligibility, claim status and payment transactions at national scale with an intelligence layer on top, and it answers the routine question in seconds for a fraction of the cost. Prosper handles the calls that exist because the rails failed, dialling payers and holding, while also covering the inbound patient side on the same voice layer, and it names its model provider, which almost nobody here does. Automate the transactions first. Then measure what your staff still spend on the telephone, because that residue is exactly the size of the voice purchase and no larger.

Select Prosper AI if
  • It handles both directions on one voice layer, calling payers and answering patients for scheduling, intake and billing questions.
  • It names its underlying model provider, which very few vendors in this index do, and publishes a strong protected health information position.
  • For a practice, one voice vendor across inbound and outbound avoids running two contracts for adjacent problems.
Select Waystar if
  • The electronic rails carry the routine questions faster and cheaper, across infrastructure a large share of providers already touch.
  • The intelligence suite sits on that platform so predictions arrive inside the existing workflow rather than through another vendor.
  • For an organisation whose volume is standard transactions rather than exceptions, that is where the leverage is.

Disclosure

Voice automation exists because the electronic transaction came back incomplete, ambiguous or absent, so these are sequential rather than competing and the sequencing decides the spend. On the voice side, recording consent sits with the calling organisation and several states require all party consent, and no vendor in this group publishes what happens when a payer representative gives wrong information that then enters the revenue cycle. Neither publishes pricing in comparable form.
