NextGen Ambient Assist vs RXNT Ambient IQ

Last VerifiedAugust 4, 2026
Verdict

Two ambulatory record system vendors that built their own scribe in house and now sell it to their own base, and the difference that matters to a buyer is how each treats the world outside that base. RXNT publishes its full price list and is candid that the product runs in two tiers, native inside RXNT where it creates a clinical encounter ready to sign, and standalone elsewhere where the note has to be moved across. NextGen publishes no rate for the module, activates it through an account representative, and is unavailable outside NextGen entirely. On oversight NextGen is the more careful of the two, placing the note pending review with codes and orders as suggestions. On commercial honesty RXNT is far ahead of the whole category, not just of NextGen. Neither publishes an accuracy figure worth comparing, and both lean on hosting provider certifications rather than their own.

Select NextGen Ambient Assist if
  • Two tiers described honestly, which is rare here. Inside RXNT the integration is native and produces a clinical encounter ready to sign; outside it the product works standalone and system agnostically by moving the note across, and the vendor says so rather than implying parity.
  • The clearest commercial disclosure of any record system vendor in this index. RXNT publishes its complete price list on its own site, flat and per provider per month, against a module activated through an account representative at a negotiated rate.
  • The review order is stated correctly and plainly: transcribe, produce, review, change, then sign, with the encounter created automatically only after the clinician has acted.
Select RXNT Ambient IQ if
  • The transcript position is better articulated. Conversations become temporary transcripts used only to generate the structured note, and documentation flows into the Enterprise record rather than persisting on the mobile device.
  • A more conservative gate on structured output, with codes, medications and orders presented as suggestions rather than pre filled, and the note placed in the chart explicitly pending provider review.
  • Twenty six specialty template sets in the parent platform, matched to an installed base of independent and specialty practices, where the alternative describes itself as specialty agnostic.

Disclosure

Read both security claims carefully because both are doing less work than they appear to. RXNT states that it hosts applications and data in SOC 2 Type II certified data centres, which certifies the facility and its operator rather than RXNT's own controls. NextGen's trust page describes the security posture of its cloud provider, listing that provider's certifications rather than the product's.

Neither vendor publishes an accuracy figure that can be compared: NextGen's over 90 percent has no definition or denominator, and RXNT's up to 70 percent documentation time reduction and up to 15 more patients a week are unfalsifiable constructions. Neither publishes a bias, accent or dialect performance statement.
