Two very different dental AI purchases that get compared because both are sold to the same practice. Archy is a cloud practice management platform with a native AI layer, so its scribe runs inside the system with access to the chart and the imaging, insurance and payments all sit in one place. Overjet reads the radiograph, detecting and quantifying caries, bone loss and calculus in real time, and works alongside whatever platform the practice already runs. If you are replacing your practice management system, Archy bundles the AI into that decision. If you are not, Overjet is the capability worth adding. The thing to press Overjet on is structural: the same detection technology is sold to practices and to dental insurers who dispute those practices' claims about the same images, and nothing published says whether the models or their thresholds differ by customer.

Overjet is a dental AI company that analyzes radiographs in real time, detecting and outlining caries, periodontal bone loss, calculus and periapical radiolucency with overlays the dentist reviews chairside. Each function carries its own FDA clearance, eight in all from 2021 to 2026, including caries detection on bitewing and periapical radiographs (K222746), charting, image enhancement, cone beam CT (K251514, December 2025) and the IRIS imaging system (K253930, April 2026).

How are Archy and Overjet priced and sold?
For Archy, the company states one platform price per location with unlimited users and unlimited providers included, explicitly rejecting seat based and provider based pricing, with optional Clinical, Front Office, and Marketing suites layered on and special first year pricing for qualifying new practices.
Overjet sells radiograph analysis, imaging software, insurance verification, a voice suite and analytics to dental practices and DSOs, and a separate claims review product to dental insurers. How do Archy and Overjet handle patient data?
The Master Service Agreement does set limits: Archy may use customer data solely to provide the service and to generate anonymous product usage data sets stripped of identifiers, and its business associate agreement permits Archy to use protected health information to de identify it under HIPAA's standard.
The trust center says Overjet does not sell customer data and does not mine or access it for advertising, encrypts data at rest and in transit, and operates as a business associate. How much do Archy and Overjet leave to the clinician?
With Archy, the scribe produces a complete SOAP note for the clinician to review and sign, voice charting records spoken perio findings into the record, and the embedded imaging AI is positioned as a second opinion during treatment conversations rather than as a diagnostic authority.
Overjet Caries Assist is cleared as a concurrent read computer aided detection device (K222746): it outlines or fills suspected lesions on the radiograph the dentist is already reading, and the dentist reviews and can edit them, so the output is inherently reviewable against the clinician's own read. The dual sided commercial structure on the imaging side is the thing to understand before comparing anything: the same detection technology is sold to dental practices and to dental insurers, who are counterparties in claims disputes about the same radiographs, and nothing published states whether the models are identical, whether calibration differs by customer type, or what separates the two businesses internally.
Archy publishes its business associate agreement in full, attached as an exhibit to its Master Service Agreement and effective when a customer accepts it, including on free access and trial. What it does not publish is an examination of its own. A trust center is linked from the site footer but is hosted on a compliance platform that renders only in a browser, so what it holds could not be read, and no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HITRUST attestation of Archy's own was located. No retention period for AI inputs and no training use statement was located either, though the agreement does limit use to providing the service and to de identified product usage data.
Archy publishes no quantified evidence for its AI features. Overjet's clearance summaries report standalone and multi reader results on more than a thousand images per study, company run and retrospective, and its trust center names a HITRUST certification without the report.
