Laudio vs Stepful

Last VerifiedAugust 4, 2026
Verdict

Two answers to the healthcare staffing crisis that operate at opposite ends of it. Laudio works on retention, giving frontline managers a single view across human resources, scheduling and clinical systems and prompting the small leadership actions that keep people, with named health systems reporting quantified results and the strongest certification posture in this category. Stepful works on supply, running employer sponsored debt free training pathways that create qualified candidates who did not previously exist in the labour market. If your vacancies exist because people keep leaving, Laudio is aimed at the cause. If they exist because nobody is applying, no amount of manager enablement fixes it. The thing to press Laudio on is its individual level burnout and turnover predictions: it is telling a manager that a named nurse is likely to leave, and nothing published says what that nurse is told.

Select Laudio if
  • It aggregates the frontline manager's fragmented view across human resources, time and attendance and clinical systems, which is the integration nobody else does for that role.
  • The attestation posture is the strongest in this category, publishing named certifications where competitors publish none.
  • Named health systems report quantified outcomes, which is better substantiation than most workforce vendors offer.
Select Stepful if
  • It trains the workforce rather than managing it, operating as employer sponsored debt free training pathways into healthcare roles.
  • The model addresses supply rather than retention, which is the binding constraint for organisations that cannot fill roles at any level of engagement.
  • For a health system with vacancies it cannot fill from the existing labour market, creating candidates is a different and more fundamental intervention than keeping the ones you have.

Disclosure

Laudio generates burnout and turnover predictions about named individual employees, which is the most consequential thing on either record and the least disclosed: the platform is telling a manager that a specific nurse is likely to leave or to burn out, and no published governance, accuracy figure or subgroup analysis was located, nor any statement of what the employee is told or whether they can see or contest the prediction.

That is an employment surveillance question, not a workforce analytics one. Neither vendor publishes pricing. Stepful's outcomes should be read as placement and completion figures rather than as evidence about care quality.
