Guardant Health presented Shield blood test data at ACG 2026. A lifetime model of adults 45 to 75, using real world rates of follow up colonoscopy, found blood based screening led to more colonoscopies and more colorectal cancer deaths averted, 12 per 1,000 people against 6 for FIT and 9 for stool DNA testing. A separate study at two rural South Carolina clinics reported 99 percent adherence to Shield screening.
Our readThe case for blood based screening is that people actually complete it. The death estimates come from a model, not a trial, so treat them as a projection.
