AZmed's FDA cleared AZtrauma and AZchest X-ray apps are now available on the Rapid Enterprise Platform, which RapidAI says more than 2,500 hospitals use. Radiologists see AZmed findings and worklist priority in Rapid Navigator Pro, while emergency and orthopedic teams see the same results in the Rapid Mobile App. Health systems add and manage the apps through a single RapidAI deployment, with usage shown in Rapid Insights.

Hospitals already on RapidAI can switch on fracture and chest X-ray AI without a separate integration, and findings reach the emergency department on mobile instead of staying in the radiology viewer.

CHU de Reims, which has used AZmed's fracture detection on all patients since 2021, published an independent evaluation in Pediatric Radiology. In 366 children seen in the pediatric emergency department for limb trauma, Rayvolve reached 93.6 percent specificity. With AI, the less experienced resident's sensitivity rose from 87.0 to 91.3 percent and specificity from 88.2 to 93.2 percent.

The hospital ran the study, not the vendor, and it focused on specificity, which matters in children because false alarms lead to needless immobilization and follow up. It is a single site study with two readers, so it adds to larger validation rather than replacing it.

AZmed received its sixth FDA clearance, for AZchest to detect and localize pneumothorax and pleural effusion on chest radiographs. That brings its Rayvolve suite to eight FDA cleared findings, and AZchest can now flag up to five findings on a single chest image.

Our read

Pneumothorax is a time critical miss, which is why this clearance matters more than the count. AZmed cites reading time reductions of up to 31 percent for readers outside thoracic radiology; that is the group to test it with, since specialist readers gain least.
